06:00 PM - 08:00 PM, 29 Apr 2015: Exposing Others In Your Memoir - What's Right and Wrong?
Good memoir demands intense exposure and honesty from authors. But authors do more than expose themselves. Few people are islands unto themselves, and memoir may involve others who are unwilling or unable to consent to having their stories told. In this seminar, we will look at the dilemmas posed by memoir and the ethical quandaries inherent in an author’s decision to write freely, to censor, or to refuse to put fingers to keyboard at all.
